our planet
resources for teaching
MODULE 1: WE LOVE OUR PLANET introduces children to Earth as a livable planet, its planetary systems, and the importance of land, water, and air for supporting life here.
We’ve compiled websites and resources below that may be of benefit if you’d like to learn more, expand content, adapt for different classrooms, or directly address climate change.
NOAA
NOAA Sea to Sky: Education resource database allows you to search by subject, filter by age group, and find any learning or lesson that relates to our water and air. We suggest “K-2” and “Earth Science.”
NASA Climate Kids
A trove of resources put together by the Earth Science Communications Team at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, is a great place to go when you want to expand the lesson. We recommend “Weather & Climate” and “Atmosphere.”
Set up a Weather Station
What better way to pay attention to and learn about the weather than to track it every day? Set up a weather station in your classroom and every day you can “talk about the weather,” which is a-okay these days.
